Aravis: the best places for après-ski

After a day skiing or enjoying other winter sports, here is our selection of the best places for a well-earned break! Cosy pubs, tea rooms, trendy bars or family-friendly cafés – you’ll be spoiled for choice with great après-ski places!

Snacks for the children

After skiing or sledging in the family resort of Manigod, pop into Happy Chalet or La Grignoterie at Merdassier, Chez Fonfon or Les Sapins and Les Rosières in Croix Fry.

In La Clusaz, we love the home-made patisseries at L’Outa, or the pancakes at La Calèche and La Grolle, close to the Patinoire ski lift.

A cosy setting and a warm welcome await you at La Grolle – not to mention the delicious pancakes…

In Le Grand Bornand, there are some excellent bakeries in the centre of the village where you can sit down and enjoy a delicious après-ski snack: Bétemps and Vulliet have delicious pastries, as does Le Petit Marquis, which also has a shop in Chinaillon.

If you are in Thônes, try the waffles at Chez Jean!

Cake lovers will love the cupcakes from the Petit Marquis …

A gourmet break

Several patisseries and tea rooms offer tasty treats – try Le Bélier or Le Sabaudia in La Clusaz, where you will also find delicious home-made chocolates..

It’s impossible to resist the sweets from Le Sabaudia!

In Thônes, try Chez Jorge or the patisserie Fontaine La Savoyarde – their cakes taste as good as they look!

At Chez Jorge you’ll find delicious treats like the ‘pastéis de nata’, little puff pastry flans from Portugal – a real speciality!

Enjoy a drink and a snack in a friendly atmosphere

Two pubs are very popular with locals in Le Grand Bornand: The Green Monkey and Les 2 Guides. Both offer a relaxed and friendly welcome which really hits the spot after a day on the slopes. The bars Chez Marcel and Les Clarines are also great places for a drink with friends.

In La Clusaz, the Brasserie Centrale is one of the village’s oldest establishments. It’s also a favourite with locals, along with the Bali Bar and Le Bachal, which do great tapas to open your après-ski evening.

The friendly atmosphere at Le Central brasserie in Thônes is not to be missed, and the Aravis Cafe is a great place to meet up with friends and family.

If wine is your things, there are two bars with a great choice – Vins quand tu veux in La Clusaz and Ô Vin Cœur in Grand Bornand.

You will be surprised by the wide choice of wines at the bar O Vin Coeur…

Relax or party the night away

La Clusaz is known for its trendy bars. Our favourites include Les Caves du Paccaly, the Datcha, Le Refuge  and the S Pub (formerly Le Salto), which has a great choice of whiskies, rums and beers!

Bar snacks / DJ sets / musical evenings / live sporting events: the S Pub will satisfy all your after-ski desires!

In Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand, we love the lounge at Bistrot du Cellier and the cosy feel of Le Strato, the bar at Les Cimes hotel.

We love the neat interiors and the warm mountain style of Strato.
